Autumn

The rolling in of stormy days and frosty nights is one of my favourite things here in Bournemouth. You get all the fun of powerful weather when your out and about, and then get to retreat to the nice warm cosyness of home with a coffee of the sofa. I love it!

We are working on some really fun projects at the moment with our churches work, putting together some really good value packages and discount clubs to consolidate buying power so that church networks can save money on filter coffee and spend it on better things in their communities. We can't wait to see when it all comes into fruition!

Summer sun means Cold Brews!😎😎

We have been thoroughly enjoying the summer sun recently, taking it easy as we make the most of the great British weather! It does mean we can kick back a bit and enjoy the sun whilst it's still here!

Our business though is going from strength to strength, as we continue to invest time in finding the very best blends of coffee we are always experimenting to only serve the very best coffee we can get our hands on. It does mean we end up buzzing most days, but there's worse ways to earn your crust isn't there!?! Hehe.

This week because of the beautiful weather we have been playing with cold brew coffee. Have you tried it yet, with our Hero coffee blend, it's delicious!!!! Simply work with a ratio of about 1:4 coffee to cold water, mix in a jug, cover and chill in the fridge overnight. We tried it with our Hero blend, which is a beautiful fairly traded blend, offering really good value. We found it soooo smooth and fruity, it was delicious to taste some exciting new flavour profiles.

The premium blend coffee shows off it's smooth, yet rich fruity notes and because there is no risk of scalding the coffee with excessively hot water, you don't have to worry about releasing bitter flavour compounds.

Try it today and if your out and about, or serving to customers on-the-go, why not serve it up in some of our biodegradable cups and drinks packaging!? Enjoy in the sun over ice, and if you usually drink coffee with milk, just give it a try black for a change - you might be surprised just how naturally sweet our Hero coffee is!

Super Monday working lunch

Super antioxidant broccoli and red onion stir fry goes amazing with our naturally sweet and nutty Hero blend black coffee. It was a mighty fine monday lunch!
The filling lunch goes so well with coffee and is pimped up with the addition of yummy omega seeds and sesame seeds. It's a great way to eat a low fat, high fibre lunch, packed with goodness! Bring on another coffee!

Our fresh coffee is roasted in small batches here in the UK so that you know you always get premium quality and your supporting the Great British economy, as well as growers around the world thanks to our fairly traded ethos.

Enjoy your coffee and super-foods today!

It's February at long, long last! What a great way to start the year though! We've been working with Bournemouth Borough council to help with develop their sustainable packaging across their parks outlets and so far we're really excited about the way we are helping with more ethical packaging. We have been working out the best ways to reduce carbon food prints across the sites by using compostable cups and other food and drinks packaging which breaks down within just a few months - that way for those items which escape the bin, we are helping reduce littering.

Some items we are particularly proud of are our 100% biodegradable cups and straws - these contain absolutely no plastic, so that we're taking that out of the waste cycle completely. Brilliant! Instead they are made with a special organic based bio-plastic. This is usually from waste manufacturing waste cornstarch which breaks down in the presence of bacteria and moisture (like all organic things!). Then the used items can then become something more useful - like compost - so we can grow new food and plants in them. Brilliant!

Our home roasted DC brew coffee continues to be a real hit with businesses as we are roasting high grade coffee and then passing on savings so that businesses pay a lower price. We don't have fancy outlets or waste money on unnecessary packaging or labeling, so we can pass on genuine savings to help Bournemouth businesses. We are seeing more language schools coming on board as well because they value the friendly and personal service we provide.

Biodegradable packaging has arrived!

Sustainable packaging has arrived at DC and it's the future!

We've been super busy the last few months developing a brand new range of high quality eco-friendly and biodegradable packaging which is proving to be a really successful hit so far with our clients. The range offers 100% biodegradable and recyclable items so that you know when you serve your first to last take away coffee, the packaging won't end up permanently littering our wonderful parks and Bournemouth beach!
The brand new range is manufactured from a whole range of sustainable materials including waste sugar pulp which is re purposed into high quality compostable dinner plates and burger boxes  - we particularly love the fact that we are able to redirect what otherwise be a waste by-product into something brand new and useful again. It's a great way of...

1) Reducing manufacturing by-product waste and taking it out of the landfill disposal waste stream and re-purposing it for something useful. What would otherwise be spent sugar cane and beet pulp destined for landfill can now be re-manufactured and compressed to form strong, new packaging items.
2) Meeting a packaging need without creating additional non-sustainable (plastic) waste when it can be avoided. It's important to meet the need for packaging within the hospitality industry, but by using already occurring waste materials we can prevent unnecessary new waste being created. Why make more waste when you can re-direct waste into something much more useful.
3) Preventing slow degrading packaging (plastic and foils) from becoming a littering problem which causes serious issues in the natural environment. Items such as plastic straws can be completely replaced with a cellulose based straw which naturally degrades within just a few months in the presence of moisture and naturally occurring bacteria.

We work hard for our clients and friends with personally selected product lines, ensuring any hospitality service need can be met. We are also now working with public sector organisations to help them develop lower waste through sustainable packaging initiatives. James and the DC team continue to be on hand to help businesses save money on their waste contracts as well by reducing what is created in the first place - with 20 years of hospitality experience, James is keen to help every business partner for the future.

Get in touch for us to put together a product quote: first we'll discover how you uniquely operate, and then we'll work hard to support you with the right products and James' famous, friendly service. Email him to get started: james@distributioncoffee.co.uk.
We look forward to partnering with you!

Coffee on the road

The delivery boys and I have had a wicked time recently out on the road - these two know how to party! We have been visiting a few new friends and making sure they have some tasty coffee ready to enjoy. It's been great!

We love the fact that we can deliver cheap prices for high quality coffee, without compromising a moment on taste. Cheaper priced coffee is something our new friends are telling us is really important for their organisation because they need to save money where possible, but the quality of the coffee in the cup is also super important.

That's why we have tried to get the best of both - really good quality, smooth tasting coffee and supplying it at a price that works well for our friends. It's great for everyone - our growers get a fair price for their coffee beans and you get to enjoy amazing, fresh coffee. It's brew-tastic!
