Sustainable packaging has arrived at DC and it's the future!
We've been super busy the last few months developing a brand new range of high quality eco-friendly and biodegradable packaging which is proving to be a really successful hit so far with our clients. The range offers 100% biodegradable and recyclable items so that you know when you serve your first to last take away coffee, the packaging won't end up permanently littering our wonderful parks and Bournemouth beach!
The brand new range is manufactured from a whole range of sustainable materials including waste sugar pulp which is re purposed into high quality compostable dinner plates and burger boxes - we particularly love the fact that we are able to redirect what otherwise be a waste by-product into something brand new and useful again. It's a great way of...
1) Reducing manufacturing by-product waste and taking it out of the landfill disposal waste stream and re-purposing it for something useful. What would otherwise be spent sugar cane and beet pulp destined for landfill can now be re-manufactured and compressed to form strong, new packaging items.
2) Meeting a packaging need without creating additional non-sustainable (plastic) waste when it can be avoided. It's important to meet the need for packaging within the hospitality industry, but by using already occurring waste materials we can prevent unnecessary new waste being created. Why make more waste when you can re-direct waste into something much more useful.
3) Preventing slow degrading packaging (plastic and foils) from becoming a littering problem which causes serious issues in the natural environment. Items such as plastic straws can be completely replaced with a cellulose based straw which naturally degrades within just a few months in the presence of moisture and naturally occurring bacteria.
We work hard for our clients and friends with personally selected product lines, ensuring any hospitality service need can be met. We are also now working with public sector organisations to help them develop lower waste through sustainable packaging initiatives. James and the DC team continue to be on hand to help businesses save money on their waste contracts as well by reducing what is created in the first place - with 20 years of hospitality experience, James is keen to help every business partner for the future.
